Who Says Electric Cars Are Slow?

with one comment

Well, most of my readers should know by now that Telsa built an electric car that can beat a Ferrari in the 1/4 mile. And the truth is, most electric cars have great acceleration because they do not have to spin up an engine, so, electric motors produce instant torque. Well, Apparently Audi designed a concept car that was powered by four electric motors and the end result was a 1,091 bhp, 2,168ft-lbs of torque, 289mph (est) monster known as the Audi R-Zero. While the R-Zero will most likely never see the light of day, Audi proved that electric cars can be faster than their gasoline counterparts. In fact, if the R-Zero was released and did achieve the 289mph estimated speed, it would not only be the world’s fasted electric car, but the world’s fastest car period. And it does 0-60 in under 3 seconds.

More info can be found here

And here are a couple of pictures of the R-Zero:

  1. I loe the idea of fast electric, but wish the manufacturers would put their engineers focus on how to mass produce a quality electric car that can get the cost factor in the affordable range.

But 0-60 in under 3….???? WOW, I’ll take two!
