Kickin' Ass Without the List

Protesting at Funerals and Ice Age 3

leave a comment »

I was watching this reality sketch show (I love Australia), and apparently there are Christians protesting against gay people at funerals…and all I could say is…WTF? Who the hell cares what you think at a funeral? Honestly? All protesting at a funeral is going to get you is a kick in the ass and arrested for disturbing the peace. Also…Christians who protest against gay people (or anything for that matter) that harshly should burn in hell. I’m not kidding. The rest of us Christians who believe in the 11th Commandment (”Love one another as I have loved you…” which means: “Love one another unconditionally”) a bad name. And because of this stupidity, I will make fun of them in the opening scene of a new series I will be working on.

In other news, I have seen Ice Age 3…in 3D I might add…and it was as funny and enjoyable as the first two in the series. and the addition of Simon Pegg as a hardnosed-tough talking british weasel is a great touch….(I also did not know that Sean William Scott did the voice of Crash…one of the possum brothers.) Also, if you’re wonder the name of the female prehistoric squirrel thingy….it’s Scratte…as appossed to Scrat…yeah, it’s really stupid…oh well, the whole movie was awesome. I recommend it.

Anyways, that’s it…later.

Changing Names

leave a comment »

Okay, I’ve thought about it, and considering the more…um…adult (meaning the use of more brutal violence, sexual content, and harsher language) I have decided that “Spirit Well Books” probably isn’t a good name for such a publishing company. Although, it would have people going, “Damn! this is a Christian publishing company? I like this publisher,” it would also get the Christian community sending me not-very-Christian-like letters that will somehow threaten God’s wrath against me and my family. So…the new name will be named after the character that really drove this need to change the name home: Laura Graives of my Cityscape series.

The new name will be: Graive House Publishing or GraiveHouse Publishing. (I will decide on the spelling once I get ready to re-purchase a website again.)

98% in common…

leave a comment »

Science says that apes and humans have 98% of our DNA in common with each other, and supposedly this means that humans came from apes. But, there’s only one problem with that theory, that no one really brings up: all life on Earth only has 4 base pairs of proteins in their DNA. this extremely limits the amount of variation between species, and we know that even the changing of a single protein pair can produce a completely different animal.

Now, because of this, we humans probably have 98% of our DNA in common with more than just apes. If we had, say, 20 base pairs or even another helix, then saying we have 98% in common with another specie would mean a lot more.

Also, human females have an extra rib…I don’t think female apes have an extra rib…so…what kid of evolutionary advantage does an extra rib have? and don’t say added protection, ’cause if that were the case, the males would have it, too…but they don’t.

New iPod Shuffle!

leave a comment »

So, I’ve checked out the new shuffle…and I want one.

* 4GB standard
* VoiceOver lets you know what’s playing
* Playlist Support
* Smaller, sleeker design
* Controls now on the Earbud Cord
* Random/Shuffle and Off switch now together

Only Apple could take a decent thing, and listen to the people and make it better.

Goodbye T. O.

with 3 comments

so, I was sitting in Chili’s today and caught a report on ESPN that mentioned that T. O. has once again been kicked off the team. That makes two teams he’s been fired from in three years. I don’t know if he’ll get picked up by another team this time or not. Hopefully not. You can’t really live down a stat like the record for number of dropped passes in a season.

Maybe we won’t have to hear from T.O. for a while now.

Closing Cityscape

leave a comment »

Well, I thought I would leave Cityscape as a simple trilogy, with peace being declared amongst the humans and inhabitants of Sol, but for some reason, it didn’t feel completely closed.

Well, now it will be. I’ve decided to write a fourth book in the series that will take place 15 years after the end of the third book.

The premise is that everything appears to be going great for Earth and the other cities of Sol, until feral (four-legged) forms of Sol’s inhabitants start popping up. At first, no one can explain why it’s happening. But, when the truth is uncovered, it will force the heroes of Earth out of retirement for a battle that just might be their last. (and at least one of them will die.)

hopefully this will close the series. But who knows.

The Website

leave a comment »

yeah, I know I said I would have SWB.com up by now, but my Mac isn’t working and I’ve decided to wait until I get a new Mac (or two) to get it up and running. That way I can get a Mobile Me account and do it the easy way.

Also, there will be more than one site this time. spiritwellbooks.com will return, but I’m also going to start up another site that will evolve into a very awesome site eventually. This site will be dedicated to the Cityscape Universe and will provide a Story Timeline that will place any short stories I do in the universe in the correct order of events, any animated shorts done, character descriptions and bios, and hopefully, eventually character sketches and drawings. I hope to eventually turn Cityscape into an animated or comic series, but we shall see where that goes.

Still mulling over the new site addy but here are some of my ideas:

cityscapeofcrimson.com
cityofcrimson.com
crimsoncityscape.com
crimsonstreets.com

If you think of some other web addresses that would sound cool and have relevance to the series, feel free to mention them or you can just voice your opinion about the twin sites.
